So you have decided to start an eBay business. Just where do you start?
Well first you would need to sign up for an eBay account if you don’t already have one. Here’s a link to the eBay Australia site to sign up. http://www.onlineauctionresources.com/go/eBayAustraliaSignup/
The best place to learn about selling on eBay is actually on the eBay site. There is no need to re-write how to do this when there are fabulous instructions already available. Here is all the help you will need to learn all about selling. http://www.onlineauctionresources.com/go/HowToSelloneBay/
When you start selling on eBay you may wonder what to sell. The eBay Australia site has an incredible way of giving you ideas about what to sell. See it here. http://www.onlineauctionresources.com/go/eBayWhattoSell/
As you will see from the previous link the best place to start is with items you already have lying around your home. We all have ‘stuff’ that we no longer use. I read somewhere that the average family home has $2000 worth of unused stuff that you could sell on eBay. If you have a good look around your home you too are bound to find a bounty of items that you no longer use. Look at items around your home and seriously think, “Have I used this in the last 6 months?” Because if you haven’t then chances are that you will never use it again.
Start off with selling some things that you have no emotional attachment too. This means that you really don’t care what you sell them for.
I have a personal rule when I list items on eBay. I ABSOLUTELY NEVER start an auction for less than the price I am willing to sell it for. If I start an auction for 99 cents then I am happy to sell that item for 99 cents. I never assume that the price will go higher than my starting price. Anything over my starting price is a bonus for me. Again, this is just my personal rule, many people may disagree with me.
Selling small items around your home also gives you a feel for how the eBay process works. It also helps if you have bought a few things. This way you can see how other sellers do things, ie. how you pay them, how they package items, how they communicate with you.
I’ll be posting more great hints and tips for starting your eBay business soon. Subscribe to my blog to be kept up to date.
