Be critical when choosing clothes to sell on eBay. Try and look at them and think would you be happy if you paid money for this.
There is a difference between what you would keep for a second child and what is in good enough condition to sell! You may not mind some minor marks, stains and wear on clothes that you are keeping for your own second child, but you certainly wouldn’t be happy paying money for clothes in that condition that another child has been wearing.
I find that people who buy children’s clothes on eBay are looking for expensive, perfect condition clothing to buy very cheaply for their own child to wear. They also want it to look brand new. They don’t want it to look like it is second hand.
I once sold a brand new t-shirt that had never been worn. Because we had had it for a while I decided to wash it to freshen it up before selling, after all it had been sitting in a drawer for ages. The person who bought it saw that it had some slight marks on the bottom wear I had hung it on the line with pegs and decided that I had lied about it’s condition. I ended up having to refund this person’s money because they made such a fuss and it seemed to me at the time to be the easiest thing to do. They still weren’t happy even after this.
The moral of this story is write in y0ur description exactly what use the clothing has had. Even if it was never worn but it was put through the washing machine, say this in your description. If fact, I would be reluctant to ever call something brand new if I had washed it. I would now list it as used but put a more detailed description of its use in description writing.
